Police Cpl. Illana Spellman says the program Paw for Senior brings together dogs at the shelter with seniors.
"What the program allows is the any senior citizen 55 or older can adopt a pet for free." she said.
She added they will come with a clean bill of health.
"All the animals are micro chipped and have veterinarian services like being spayed and neutered," Spellman said.
There is a mandatory reduced veterinarian fee of $30.
